Content Strategist

You’re an intellectually curious and empathetic individual who thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment. You are energised by the challenge of making sense of complex information and turning it into clear, meaningful narratives that shape visitor experiences. With strong research instincts, a sharp mind for synthesis, and a sensitivity to what resonates with people, you help the team build stories with depth, coherence, and purpose. You are not simply good at gathering information. You know how to identify what matters, what is interesting, and what is worth carrying forward into the experience.

You are a positive, collaborative team player who works well with people across different disciplines. At the same time, you are able to work independently, take initiative, and move work forward without waiting to be directed at every step. You care about clarity, accuracy, and emotional resonance, and you are excited by the opportunity to contribute to how stories are translated into spaces.

What will you be doing?

Research & Narrative Development:

  • Conduct in-depth research from books, academic publications, archival materials, reports, interviews, site visits, and other primary and secondary sources.
  • Synthesise research into clear insights and recommendations that guide the team in shaping the overall story of a project, the narrative of each zone, and the content of individual panels, interfaces, and other touchpoints.
  • Identify the themes, ideas, tensions, and content opportunities most worth developing so that the narrative is clear, coherent, and meaningful.
  • Organise and curate research materials, references, and working documents in a way that supports the wider team throughout the project lifecycle.

Interpretive Content & Copywriting:

  • Guide the translation of complex subject matter into content that is accessible, engaging, and relevant to the intended audience.
  • Write and refine content for physical panels, digital interfaces, multimedia experiences, and other visitor-facing touchpoints.
  • Ensure that content is accurate, audience-appropriate, and aligned with the overall story of the project, while drawing on details, examples, and mini-stories that will resonate with visitors.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure it meets HOL’s standards for clarity, quality, tone, and accuracy.
  • Contribute ideas on suitable modes of storytelling and presentation, whether through static panels, tactile exhibits, objects, multimedia, or immersive digital experiences.

Collaboration & Content Support:

  • Present research findings, narrative thinking, and content recommendations clearly and confidently to internal teams, external collaborators, and clients.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to shape content directions, refine ideas, and ensure alignment between narrative intent and visitor experience.
  • Support internal content needs when required, including proposals, presentations, marketing materials, and thought leadership content.
  • Stay informed about relevant subject matter, audience expectations, and evolving approaches in storytelling, interpretation, and visitor engagement.

What are we looking for?

Experience and Track Record:

  • A minimum Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant working experience in content development, interpretation, curatorial development, or a related field.
  • Strong research, synthesis, writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, compelling, and well-structured content.
  • The ability to guide content thinking within a team, offering sound judgement on what should be prioritised, developed, and carried through into the visitor experience.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate research findings, narrative thinking, and content recommendations clearly, confidently, and appropriately to different audiences, including internal teams, external collaborators, and clients.
  • A genuine interest in story-led experiences, together with a strong instinct for what audiences may find meaningful, engaging, and worth remembering.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a self-starting approach to work.

Shortlisted candidates must be prepared to complete a writing/editing test. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Thank you.
